Introduction
The department was accredited in 2017 to run a two-year Master of Technology (MTech) in Water and Environmental Engineering. The MTech programme provides highly skilled BTech and other undergraduates the specialized knowledge and skills to do research and take up high-level positions in the water and environment industry, and further strengthens the competencies of industry experts for socio-economic and manpower development of Ghana and the world at large. The key objectives of the MTech in Water and Environmental Engineering are underpinned by the inevitable need to:
Train undergraduates in a practical manner based on the CBT concept to become experts in the water and environmental engineering field and empower them to take up today’s and future engineering challenges in the sector;
Provide a logical progression route, rather than the orthodox, for BTech and similar graduates; and
Further strengthen the competencies of the CBT graduates to propel the manpower development needs of Ghana and the developing world.
Entry Requirements
To be admitted into the MTech in Water and Environmental Engineering, an applicant must:
- Hold a BTech degree in either Civil or Chemical Engineering; or
- Hold a BSc degree in Civil or Chemical Engineering; or
- Hold first degree in a relevant engineering-related discipline; and
- Additionally, have at least two (2) years industrial or work experience; and
- Must attend and pass a selection interview if degree is a second class lower or pass division; OR
- Hold HND in either Civil or Chemical Engineering with three (3) years industrial experience, must pass a selection interview, and do 6 months top-up course before admission into the MTech Programme.
