ADMISSION/MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS 

The underlisted minimum entry requirements shall apply

  1. Candidate holding a researched master’s degree in civil engineering or any civil engineering discipline (including Structural Engineering, Water and Environmental Engineering, Road and Transportation Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Engineering and Management) from a recognised institution, OR

  2. Candidates holding a researched master’s degree in a civil engineering-related discipline, including Geomatic Engineering, Built Environment, Services Engineering, Architecture, Urban design, and planning, among others from a recognised institution. However, the area of specialisation of such a candidate in the DTech programme shall align with the area of specialisation of their prior master’s degree programme, OR

  3. Candidates holding master’s degree by coursework in relevant discipline with a minimum of three (3) years post qualification industrial or work experience in the related field and must show evidence of the publication of at least one (1) conference or peer-reviewed journal paper. OR

  4. Candidates holding master’s degree by coursework in relevant discipline and at least one (1) relevant article publications in peer-reviewed journal. 

  5. Candidates must submit a research proposal that is acceptable to the Department.

  6. Candidates must attend an interview session and pass the interview before admission.

  7. Candidates may be required to take some additional courses whenever necessary.

  8. Generally, evidence of a research publication will be an added advantage.
