The aim of the Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering (Plant Engineering Option) programme which is CBT based is to provide sufficient practical hands on and theoretical knowledge in Plant Engineering so that the graduate will be able to diagnose and repair real-life problems that may arise in any industrial plant.

Admission requirement

1. Bachelors’ Degree (BSc/BTech/BEng/BEd) Qualification 

First degree (BTech/BEng/BSc/Bed. Etc.) certificate with a minimum of Second Class (Lower) Division in a related engineering discipline such as automotive/automobile, mechanical, electrical, mechatronic, agricultural, aerospace, and marine.

Working experience in the related field would be an advantage.

Candidates with “Pass” or “Third Class” must pass an interview session to bebefore being admitted granted access to the programme.

The programme’s main objective is to produce professional engineers who will be able to analyse, design, construct and maintain Civil Engineering works and systems. At the end of the programme, the B-Tech graduate will be able to:
•    Design, and supervise the construction of Highway and Transportation structures
•    Design and supervise the construction of Steel, Concrete, RCD and Timber structures
•    Carry out Geotechnical Investigations
•    Design and supervise the construction and maintenance of Water and Sanitation systems

The department was accredited in 2017 to run a two-year Master of Technology (MTech) in Water and Environmental Engineering.  The MTech programme provides highly skilled BTech and other undergraduates the specialized knowledge and skills to do research and take up high-level positions in the water and environment industry, and further strengthens the competencies of industry experts for socio-economic and manpower development of Ghana and the world at large.  The key objectives of the MTech in Water and Environmental Engineering are underpinned by the inevitable need to:
