It gives me great pleasure, as Head, Department of Electrical/Electronic Engineering, to welcome you to the official Department of Electrical/Electronic Engineering, FET’s website.
This website has been developed in the hope that it will become for staff, parents, students, and visitors to the site, a valuable source of the Department’s news and timely information. It is to enable everyone to become familiar with our Department, its aim and vision, as well as to provide you with updated school news, schedules and events.
Department of Electrical/Electronic Engineering has maintained a reputation of quality training and has been the forefront of preparing manpower to support the technological and engineering advancement of KsTU, Ghana and beyond.
Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering is one of the four departments under the Faculty of Engineering and Technology. It has gained re-accreditation this year to continue running the Higher National Diploma (HND) for the next four years. The HND programme is designed to offer an opportunity to students to acquire knowledge and practical skills in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in order to contribute meaningfully to the realization of the objectives of University and the community at large. The department currently runs a two-year Bachelor of Technology Degree Programme (Top-up) in Electrical Engineering, which aims at providing a solid knowledge of the practical and essential principles of electrical assessment and audit, etc.
The programme comprises of taught courses, seminars, fieldtrips, report writing and laboratory work. Assessments of course work are primarily done through quizzes, class assignments, seminars and end of semester examinations. Graduates from the Department are equipped with the skill to identify, model and solve electrical engineering problems.
Department of Electrical/Electronic Engineering is resourced with highly efficient personnel and committed academic staff. Academic staff are also committed to research and extension services in their various fields of specialty.
The department has linkages with related industries such as Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), GRIDCO, Hospitals, Volta River Authority (VRA), this allows for a sharing of knowledge and research to meet the dynamics of the safety world in modern times. The Department has high student population and good standing in terms of academic work.
I encourage prospective candidates who wish to pursue an engineering career in Electrical/Electronic Engineering to opt for Kumasi Technical University for a quality engineering education.
