The Electrical/Electronic Engineering Department is one of the oldest Departments in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology. The Department gained accreditation to run HND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering in 1992 and subsequently gained accreditation to run BTech Top-Up Programme  in Electrical/Electronic Engineering in 2015.
The Department has produced over two thousand HND graduates who have made significant inputs to nation building in various sectors of the economy. All curricula in the Department encourage students to foster research skills and this has inspired graduates from the program to pursue higher education to terminal degree (D.Tech and PhD) levels and beyond. Our curricula also seeks to equip students with entrepreneurial and business management skills to give them a head start in beginning Electrical/Electronic Installation and Maintenance businesses.

The major areas offered by the Department in our programmes include:
- Power Systems and Machines
- Electronics and Communications
- Telecommunication Engineering
- Renewable Energy Technologies
- Biomedical instrumentation

The Department is awaiting accreditation to begin a four-year BTech programme in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. This programme has been designed with the Competency-Based Training (CBT) concept of learning. This concept allows students to undertake six months industrial attachment with any reputable Electrical, Electronic or Communication Engineering establishment to enhance their know-how, practical skills and knowledge, and to have a better understanding and appreciation of industry. The CBT concept is proven to be the best avenue to achieve a highly knowledgeable and skilled workforce for socio-economic development.
